Users’ Perceptions of Community-Based Cancer Support Programs

Individuals with cancer and their informal caregivers are at higher risk of psychosocial distress related to their experience with cancer. Hope & Cope’s Cancer Wellness Centre (affiliated with the Jewish General Hospital/CIUSSS Centre-Ouest) provides a variety of support programs and activities for individuals affected by cancer (i.e., former patients, individuals undergoing cancer treatment, and informal caregivers). The proposed descriptive mixed-method study aims to assess program users’ views by exploring in depth their perceived advantages and challenges associated their participation in the program(s). By gaining insights from participants across various time points of their program participation, we can optimize the programming to best meet the needs and preferences of individuals affected by cancer.
